Over filled nails

Wow! Are your nails really getting weaker every time you have your nails done!

I just read an article that said if you have product on your nails.

Every time you go to get your nails touched up that your natural nails are being filed and getting weaker with each visit.

If your nails are being properly done, your natural nail should only be lightly filed once and not over and over in the same area.

Here are some examples for you to see the process and
hopefully help you understand that there is no way you can refile the same area of the nail unless all the product has been totally removed.

Nail Fill-In Step One

Your first visit your nail tech should only lightly buff up the
top of the nail and then wipe them clean
This step is to remove the shine and oils from the nails.

Nail Fill-In Step Two

She will then apply the product all the way back to your nail fold.
Most call this the cuticle area.

Nail Fill-In Step Three

In about a week you will start to notice the product starting to grow off toward the end of your nails.

Nail Fill-In Step Four

In two weeks you are probably ready for your fill.

Nail Fill-In Step Five

When getting your fill-in your nail tech should remove your polish and only file on top of the gel or whatever product that you have on your nails.
This may be done by electric nail file, hand filed or both.

Remember she is not filing on your natural nail she is only filing the product. (see arrows)
This must be done to keep your nails from becoming thick and bulky at the ends.

Then at the next stage she should only lightly buff the new growth (see Arrow) same as she did on your very first visit.

So the only way your whole natural nail could be getting filed at every visit would be if all the product was totally removed.
