OUCH! A Callouse Shaver for those Dry Callused Heels!

What! How to take care of your feet and those Callused Heels in January you ask!

Should you use a callus shaver on your feet?
Callus Shaver or Not!

Pretty feet is what we all want in the summer. Right?

Well it just so happens that for some of us pretty feet  don't just happen overnight and will need a little extra TLC way before it's time let them out of those winter shoes.

So I will start with a question I get ask often.
Should you use a callus shaver on your feet?

I always sort of cringe because I know that some of you may be a little bit like me and have just a teeny tiny bit of UOCD. (Undiagnosed OCD) *wink*
I think most of us have just a little bit of that and these callus shavers are very sharp.

Go ahead and say it - Ouch!

I have been a licensed nail tech in two different states and I would like to start by telling you.
I have seen some horrible things done with those shavers. Most states have banned  the use of callus shavers in salons and for good reasons.

Now don't get me wrong here, if the callus shaver is not banned where you live there are some nail technicians that may do fine with the callus shaver. (If he or she has been trained to use it correctly.)

So now you ask, what should you do if your heels are really bad and you think you need your calluses shaved.

Here is what I recommend for you and it's probably not going to be what you think!

If your heels are so bad that the Pedicure file I recommended here can't get the job done in a few weeks. Then what I recommend for you is to start with a good dermatologists or a podiatrist. Yep that's right!

A Dermatologists or a Podiatrist - Not a Nail Salon!

The reason I say a doctor and not a salon is that if your feet are really bad you need to find out why and your doctor can do just that and also they can cleanly and safely take care of those calluses for you.

The main thing here is sanitation, your safety and your health!
All salons are not clean and the foot tubs if not cleaned properly can get you into trouble. (Epically someone who is diabetic) or if they accidently cut you.
Remember a cut is a point of entry for trouble to begin. :0(

After your doctor gets your feet in shape then you should be able to keep up with your maintenance using the tips I have for you here on this page  Key to a Great Pedicure.

So what are you waiting for get ahead of the game and start thinking about getting those feet soft, pretty and ready for the summer!
