Good Saturday Morning!
A recent question was what is my favorite topcoat and just like the base coat I wrote about here choosing a good topcoat is just like any other nail product, there is not a one size fits all.
Anyway here is my opinion on the top coats and I use many throughout the years. :-)
Seche Vite is my absolute favorite, it is fast drying non yellowing and has a beautiful finished look.
Even with the complaints you hear about the Seche Vite having shrinkage I still rate it the number one in topcoats.
Back to the shrinking issues here are some things to keep in mind that may help when using the Seche Vite top coat.
First thing is most of the time I used the Seche Vite topcoat with the Seche Vite basecoat.
Getting the topcoat applied over your polish pretty quick so it gets good penetration into the layers of nail polish.
I also noticed that heat seems to make a difference in shrinkage of many products not just top coats, so think about (how warm the room temperature is and also the fact that some people seem to have different body temperatures.
Do your hands generally feel warm or cold to the touch?
And last but surely not least always make sure you get the tips covered really good with all coats your base, color and top coat.
And if the Seche Vite topcoat doesn't work well for you here are some other top coats that I like and in no particular order.
I always tried to use my judgement on what I felt would work for the client in need.
INM Out The Door Topcoat
Essie All in One - a base, top and also a strengthener.
Poshe fast drying topcoat
Which ever topcoat you choose it can help to reapply the topcoat every two or three days to help your polish last longer, make sure to get the tips covered really good.
What happens when your nails start to peel is the edges are the first thing to start loosening and that is because we use our hands constantly and the edges is where we use those nails as tools even when we don't mean to. ;)
Do you use the Seche Vite Topcoat or have a favorite topcoat you would like to share with us?
