I recently had a question from someone that had a reaction to her skin after removing her glitter nail polish.
Over 20 years of doing nails I saw few nail polish allergies or should I say chemical reactions that caused true allergies, however they do exist.
I actually had a client that couldn't wear any nail polish of any kind because it always bothered her eyes, we could only do
natural nail manicures with no type of polish or enhancement on her nails and believe me we tried many. :-(
Allergies to nail products do happen. You may wear nail polish, gel nails acrylic nails, etc. for many years and never have any issues and then all of a sudden you start having problems. Our bodies change as well as the products we use.
As strange as it may sound most of the time if you are having a reaction to nail products it will more than likely show up around your eyes, mouth area but if your skin starts to change, you have itching, burning or even your eyes start to bother you after getting your nails done then you might want to get tested to find out what chemical you may be having a reaction to.
The good news is sometimes if you can find out what is causing the allergy you can switch to a different nail product and be fine. :-)
It is always better to be safe than sorry!
